AmpsThe fiberglass assembly holding the subs also contains amplification and additional power for the system. Inverted on a central rack constructed from MDF and fiberglass that was then topped off with acrylic, two 16-MCD1500 feed the rear subs, a 16-MCD250 powers the front 8-incher and a 16-MCA2004 serves the rear fill. Flanking the main rack, two 16-MCA3004's power the front door speakers and hide two capacitors that back up the sub amps. The extra Optima YellowTop battery resides in a fiberglass compartment covered with etched acrylic.
Rear SeatsTwo Sparco racing seats were wrapped in gray leather and orange ostrich skin. Gregory fiberglassed Monkey Video MFDM1041R 10.4-inch monitors, which get feed through the Monkey Video MVB1 switching unit under the dash, into the rear of the seats to entertain spectators.
EngineThe painted carbon-fiber hood hides a score of performance mods as well as an Iraggi 280-amp alternator, which feeds this power-hungry system. The juice runs along Memphis ought-gauge power cables. All wiring throughout the vehicle hails from Memphis, including the 12-gauge for the speakers and 8-gauge for the subs.
ExteriorPainted with Creamcycle Orange, Kandy Brandwine and Ice White Pearl by Gregory himself, this tC has won Best of Show awards at numerous tuner events east of the Mississippi. Pretty good for a build that took a mere month and a half. When asked about future plans, Gregory remains tight-lipped. "We keep that stuff top secret." We'll keep an eye out for his next phase of customization.
DriverJeff Gregory, owner and fabricator at GB Customs, was introduced to car audio by a friend who competed in SQ competitions. "He showed me the ropes, got me started and [I] never got tired of it." He may get a few miles of private listening from the tC when going to shows, but he mainly enjoys it alongside attendees when it's on display. Thanks go out to "my buddies and co-workers Justin McPhearson, Jeff Ball and my wife Joanie Gregory."
Rear SpeakersWith six rear speakers sharing space between two different enclosures, Gregory downsized from the 6.5" speakers to 5.25" Power Reference. Each chamber was mounted in the best location for aesthetics and rear fill efficiency.
