Car Paint Detailing - See It In Paint Part 2
by CAE, Aug 01, 2007
This month we're finishing up a two-part series on painting techniques. Last month, we applied the paint, now we're going to make it look how show car paint should. The color sanding process removes any surface imperfections in the paint, like dirt, orange peel effect, drips or other contaminants. By sanding down a thin layer of the clearcoat and buffing it back to a deep shine, you'll be amazed at how much better your painted projects will look. This technique requires some practice, so paint some scrap pieces (old fenders from a scrap yard work great) and perfect your skills before tackling a real project.
