Grassroots Sound Competitions Continue to Flourish

We've always wanted to give away an install but for whatever reason we've shied away from the idea. There are a ton of excuses: logistics, shop participation, cost and liability issues. Hey, we live in a litigious society! But I think we're going to have to put together such a prize. If they're doing it in Brazil, then why not here!



The guys in Brazil conducted a raffle at one of their new sound competitions and gave away a free system, plus install (by a top shop down there called Bass Audio).





Since they don't have IASCA, MECA or USACi in their area they started their own organization, Quality Sound Brasil. Very similar to IASCA, they judge for install and sound quality. They had four shows last season, and this year plan on having five more with a big final at the end. Ianaconi Imports. is the organizer with Bass Audio. See the website for the competition here.



So at their last event, of the 250 entries, Rafhael Tebaldi of Sao Paulo won the system you see in the gallery. The system consisted of the following: Clarion DXZ785USB (courtesy of Clarion Brasil); 2-way DLS C61 (courtesy of Medina Imports, a DLS distributor in Brazil); Hertz EP4 amplifier (courtesy of Relm Audio, a Eletrommedia distributor in Brazil); and a 10" N.A.R subwoofer (contributed by N.A.R, a Brazilian company)



All the installation was done by Mauro Castro and his crew, a multi-champion in the '90s when IASCA had some shows in Brazil. His shop is the aforementioned Bass Audio.
