Driver ProfileFondly referred to as "Rocket" by his peers due to his high-speed endeavors on local highways in his youth, 42-year-old Johnny Almaguer hails from Corpus Christi, TX, where he works in sales. He has been into car audio for over 20 years and owned his fair share of hot cars equipped with equally hot systems. For the overwhelming success of the project, Almaguer extends a special thanks to Louis Gonzales for the awesome custom install, Barry and Justin at Far Beyond Tint and Alarm, Roshan at Brainstorm, Brice at Alamo Autosports, Oscar at Pro Audio, the crew at Southern Autosports, the Voodoo Racing Crew and Carl Edwards Photography, as well as a sincere thanks to his wife Lori for letting him get away with this and to his daughter Nicole for her opinion of what is cool.

Fellow Voodoo Racing member Joshua Garcia has several rides in his stable, but before his wife Gail would let him could continue lavishing the love on his Corolla and Supra, he had to take care of her and her 530i first. Garcia wanted "a clean overall look and feel to the system," opting for a more "traditional box setup" with acrylic and mirrors instead of fiberglass and factory locations for all the speakers. "I wanted the car to be the star, not just the stereo system," he states.

Sean Veit at Competition Autosound in Corpus Christi, TX, led the install, building the sub enclosure, amprack and door panels. Veit's brother Brian and Garcia helped along the way. Heading the system is a Rockford Fosgate RAVDVD2 with its 7-inch monitor. Orange LEDs, which match the factory dash and interior lights, set off most of the aftermarket gear. In the factory door locations, slightly modified speakers sit on backlit orange acrylic rings. The crossovers tuck into the factory door pockets and rear speakers fit in the stock locations.

Since he feels strongly (in a positive way, of course) about the 5 series, Garcia demanded on having the BMW emblem on the sub enclosure. Another logo, Rockford Fosgate's, holds up the 4-channel on the acrylic amprack. LEDs circling the acrylic get brighter as the volume goes up. A Punch logo in the acrylic cover lets the amps breathe.

The Garcias only use this BMW "for pleasure 'cause there's just too many haters out there," explains Joshua. Of course, he makes it out to the car shows and cruise spots. Special thanks for the build go to "Kyle at Compsounds, Sean Veit for his talent, Gail Garcia for her patience and Voodoo Racing, the hardest hitting car club in south Texas."

SubsTwo Rockford Fosgate T1 10" subwoofers reside in a box fabricated out of acrylic. As with the front door speakers, orange LEDs provide backlighting.

AmprackThe acrylic amprack has two Rockford Fosgate P6001bd mono amps sitting at the bottom while a P4004 4-channel floats above on a Rockford Fosgate logo.
